Mr.B - Evelyn's Wigs

Introducing our latest baby

His name is P’Tit Loup..... Meaning Little Wolf. We adopted him when he was 7 or 8 weeks old.  He is now 4 months old with Calico colouring.

He really enjoys having visitors and is friendly. He is adorable but definitely has attitude. He is adapting with us no problem. He likes climbing our circular staircase up to the third stair. Then he gets scared and we bring him down.

He gets lots of loving.

Minou

Memories of our beloved (Minou) pet cat. She was 17 years old. Died February 22, 2013

I found Minou 17 years ago. She was just a kitten then . It was a cold winter evening, I was returning from Winnipeg and I could hear very frail Meows. I turned around and I saw her. She had already gone for some heat under my car. Claude came to the rescue. She was kept in Claude's shop until we could find the owners. We had pictures of her to put up in town. After 3 weeks no one came for her so Claude decided to keep her in his work shop.

Our dog Tigger really liked her. He adopted her like a sister. He would even let her eat from his bowl. He had become her Protector and played with her. They became inseparable inside and outside. He was never mean to her. After approx. six years Tigger became very ill and died. Minou was totally lost as she looked all over the yard for him. She could not find him . One day through our kitchen window I saw her going inside the dog's house and coming out she looked so sad to see he was no longer there to be seen. It is then that I really understood Minou. She was very much like us when someone dies.

We decided to get another dog for us and for her. This time it was a female. We named her Princess. She is a beautiful German Shepherd cross. Not to forget that she was a young pup and quite rambunctious.. Minou was not impressed to say the least as Princess liked to run after her and wanted to play. We decided to help Minou get away from her so we took her into the Sunroom. Minou was very content but she could not come into the kitchen because Mr. B was living inside. They had not been raised together and we did not know exactly how Minou felt about the Bunny.

For many years Minou adapted as she could always see Mr. B. through the french doors overlooking the kitchen. We knew she would not hurt the bunny. We just wanted to avoid any confrontation between the two of them. That went on for about at 7 1/2 years. When Mr.B died December 2nd, 2012 that is the day we liberated Minou from the sunroom. We opened the french door and just let her in the kitchen. We could see that had opened a new life for her. A few weeks later she proceeded to climb our spiral staircase that led her upstairs. I could not believe that this cat could climb these stairs. Claude had been sure all along that she could do this special feat. Then that began her daily routine visiting Claude at his computer. She would climb on special blankets we laid for her on our bed. She was so happy. Unfortunately all of this did not last too long. She was losing a lot of weight fast and quit eating. She became very ill. We took her to caring Veterinarians in Oakbank. They kept her approx. 3 days and then we simply had to see her. They had tried their best to keep her comfortable but she was dying and in a lot of pain.

She had been given some pain killers but it was not enough. Just seeing her in such a state it was impossible to let her continue this intolerable pain. This was the most difficult time to see her, so skinny and not moving . We had a hard time to let her go as we loved her so much. Minou finished her journey peacefully in my arms with Claude very close to her. She had brought us a lot of happiness , laughter and good company.

We told her to go and join Mr. B.

I have printed the poem of the Rainbow Bridge for all of you who had the uniqueness of owning a pet. The LOVE bond we have for them and also what we mean to them by giving them a better life.

Until we meet again.

Mr.B - Evelyn's Wigs

Mr. B.

Our little Lop Bunny, Mr. B. died on Sunday morning December 2nd 2012.  He was 7 and a half years old. This is a poem and an excerpt  that I found that was somewhat comforting.

The Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting HEAVEN  and EARTH.  It is called THE RAINBOW BRIDGE because of it’s many colors.  Just this side of The Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.  There is always food and water and warm Spring weather.  The old and frail animals are young again.  Those who are maimed are made whole again.  They play all day with each other.

There is only one thing missing.  They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth., So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up.  The nose twiches. The ears are up. The eyes are staring.  And this one suddenly runs from the group.

You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace.  Your face is kissed again and again and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then you cross The Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

- Anonymous

To all of my bunny friends who have let me love you and have gone on to wait for rest of us at The Rainbow Bridge – I wish you

Fields of timothy hay and carrots young and tender
Streams of sparkling cold water
Beds of soft grass and dirt
Butterflies to chase
Spearmint to taste

I wish you warm spring days and soft autumn snows to  Mr. B.,  Bunn Bunn, and Finne Finne.
Cardboard boxes filled with nothing but love
Branches for chewing
Parsley for tasting
puppies with noses to kiss

To see your pretty face once more, and reminisce with you
To hold you in my arms once more, and spend the day with you
To tell you how I miss you so, and long to have you stay
To tell how I’ll love you so Tomorrow and Today
You’re always on my mind
Your sparkling eyes I see
I know that I will never find another you and me.

“If tears would have kept you
You would still be here
If tear would bring you back
You would have been home Yesterday”

“Grieve not, or speak to me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you
I LOVED YOU SO----“twas Heaven here with you”

We who chose to surround ourselves with lives more
temporary than Our own live within a fragile circle,
easily and often breached.  Unable to accept its awful
gaps, we still would live no other way.  We cherish
memory as the only certain immortality, never
understanding the necessary plan.

“The Once Again Prince”, Irving Townsend

This can be a Hairy Place with Mr. B. His name was chosen by Evelyn because he's the BOSS, he's a BRAT, and of course he's a BUNNY. He is everyone's favorite HARE. If you are not used to having any kind of a pet, do not fret as he will know and will not intimidate you at all. You probably won't even get a glimpse of him if you are scared. But if you are a pet lover, that's a whole different story. He will sense that and will want to greet and meet you.

Evelyn says that he is a bilingual Bunny as he understands certain things as well in French as in English. When it comes to having treats, Evelyn taught him to walk on his two hind legs and he makes quite a few steps to get his favorite goodie - a small Nabisco Shreddie. He will reach up and walk for this treat.

This little guy has a personality of his own and loves people. Evelyn adopted Mr. B. at Petland in Winnipeg when he was already 5 months old. He was born in British Columbia and moved to Winnipeg. He is now 5 years old in February 2010. Mr. B. is very intelligent, impish, loving, responsive, rewarding and tons of fun!

As with any pet, he comes with the responsibilities of taking good care of him. He is always hungry for alfalfa pellets, flakes of hay and clean water to drink. The litter box also needs to be cleaned, sometimes twice a day. When he is having a Siesta, he likes to be left alone. He can be very independent when it comes to picking him up.  Of course, you may have guessed ... this is a male characteristic showing up ...
